Safety first. Always.

In any situation involving gas, fire, electrical danger or severe flooding, your priority is personal safety and contacting the official emergency services. Do not attempt DIY troubleshooting.

Official emergency numbers

You smell gas

Call 997 from a safe place

Do

  • Do not switch lights or electrical devices on or off
  • Avoid flames, lighters and smoking
  • Open windows and doors if it is safe and quick
  • Turn off the gas valve only if you can reach it safely
  • Leave the property and keep others away

Don't

  • Do not search for the leak
  • Do not re-enter until declared safe
  • Do not attempt repairs

Electrical fire, smoke or sparking

Call 997 immediately

Do

  • If safe, switch off the main breaker at the distribution board
  • Leave the area and close doors behind you
  • Use a CO₂ or dry-powder extinguisher only if trained and the fire is very small

Don't

  • Never use water on an electrical fire
  • Do not touch sparking fittings or cables

Severe flooding or burst pipe

Keep clear of electrics

Do

  • Keep away from water near sockets, appliances or the distribution board
  • Turn off the main water valve if it is safe and accessible
  • Inform building security or management
  • Contact DEWA (991) for supply emergencies, or emergency services if anyone is at risk

Don't

  • Do not walk through water that may be electrified
  • Do not switch electrical items on to dry areas

AC failure in extreme heat

Protect vulnerable people

Do

  • Move children, elderly people and anyone unwell to the coolest room
  • Drink water, close curtains and use fans where available
  • Check if the breaker has tripped — reset once only
  • Request emergency AC response from our team

Don't

  • Do not repeatedly reset a tripping breaker
  • Do not open AC units or refrigerant lines
